EMDR and Neurodiversity: Working with Adults
In the past decade, increasing numbers of people are being identified or are identifying themselves as neurodivergent. How can EMDR therapists make sense of this, and how can we help people to access the help that they need?
In this engaging and interactive online workshop, Dr Naomi Fisher will explain the history of neurodiversity and how understandings are shifting. She’ll introduce you to ways to make sense of your client’s experiences. She’ll talk about the different ways in which trauma can show up in these client groups.
Next she will describe the barriers which can often mean that people cannot access therapy. She’ll outline simple ways in which therapists can bring down these barriers and help a wider range of people to access EMDR.
You’ll leave with a better understanding of neurodiversity, some ideas as to how trauma may interact with neurodiversity and practical ideas to adapt and improve your clinical practice.
